Allow our professionals to prepare your door for handles and the lockset.

Generally, single-bore is most common for interior doors while double bore is most common for exterior doors containing a deadbolt.  

For double wide exterior doors, the inactive door is prepared with top and bottom flush bolts as well as a t-astrigal.  

For double wide interior doors, you have the option of ball catches (standard) which allow both doors to swing or, for an upcharge, we can add an interior T-Astragal, which allows for a fixed position door on the interior.  Just sent us a note after you place your order if you want to go this route. 

For exterior doors, we can install the very secure multipoint lock system (handle not included and to be purchased separately from UberDoors), which involves boring holes for both the handle and the lock as well as mortising a groove along the full length of the inside edge of the active door (this may be smaller depending on the height of the door). The multipoint lock system comes installed in your door, ready to accept the handle of your choice. When your order is completed, we will send you the available Handle options that are compatible with the Hoppe branded locking systems as well as the pricing for each of them.  We will help you purchase them so that we can do a full install.  The choice of handle dictates the internal locking mechanism.  We cannot install the lock or mortise your door without this information.

Handing refers to how the door swings in relation to the frame interior/exterior of the opening. To determine the proper handing for your door, consider how you want the door to open, whether it should swing inward or out and on which side the hinges should be located.

The door jamb can be made from the same species of wood as the door, or you may want to select a species that will match other parts of the wall or window frames. All of our door jambs can be painted or stained.

To measure the width of the jamb, open the door and measure the existing jamb. Do not include any of the trim work or exterior casing.

4-9/16" is the most common jamb width for regular 2x4 framing.
5-1/4" is the most common jamb width for 2x4 framing with stucco walls.
6-5/8" is the most common jamb width for regular 2x6 framing.
